According to a statement from Stake, the former professional footballer will be bringing his "love of sport, esports and live streaming to the premier crypto casino & sportsbook" after retiring in December 2021 at the age of 33 owing to a heart issue.

In his post-retirement life, Aguero has been heavily involved with the streaming website Twitch. As CEO of his own esports company, KRÜ, the Argentinian is also involved in other endeavours.

In a statement from Stake, it was stated that Sergio Aguero, who retired from the game in December, possesses a career highlights package that can never be misconstrued for being one of the greatest to ever do it. He joins Stake as a brand ambassador to spread his enthusiasm for the beautiful game, and a fantastic retirement career is on the horizon.

After Premier League club Watford inked a multi-year contract with Stake last summer, Aguero joins them as the newest athlete/club to do the same. At the moment, the club's front-of-shirt sponsor is the cryptocurrency casino and sportsbook.
